Rødt spisebord?

by Svipser28. March 2013 15:49

I'll trade you snow for Spring

by Svipser24. March 2013 11:40

March is almost gone, I had a birthday, we were promised a snowstorm that never showed up (well, the snow did, but the wind didn’t) and I was I’ll for a whole bleeping week! I can’t wait for spring to arrive, soon please. I have a need to see the ground without snow on it, I need to see dirt.

The good thing about snow and living in a deep freezer is that it makes perfect sense to knit big woolly sweaters, HA!

First off, I finished my [big] Rubble. Ever since knitting the child version of this pattern

..I have wanted my own. Lucky for me, the designer Alison Brookbanks, also thought the world needed a grown up version! My version is knitted in the same yarn, and it looks like the small one was placed in a photocopier and someone pushed the upscale button.

I choose to knit the sleeves narrower and I now have the perfect layering piece for gardening. Not constrictive of motion, sleeves won’t get in the way and still warm and comfy. So Spring, get here.

Second sweater of March, Agnes. I have been wanting to knit this ever since the pattern came out, it just looks so comfy and cozy! And because of fellow Raveler and knitter Rachel, I was finally able to. She sent me the pattern as a gift, after taking some neglected Angora yarn of my hands. Such a sweet lovely gesture from a stranger on the other side of the globe. She might also be psychic, she sent this particular pattern as she thought I might be cold, way up here in the north. After receiving the pattern, they advertised more snow..

I LOVE this sweater, it is every bit as comfy and cozy as it looks, and it is definitely not the last time I knit this pattern. Rita loves it too, she guarded it while it was blocking, resting comfortably on top of the moist sweater for hours, silly cat.

What I’m working on now? More grey knitting, Camomille. I love grey, I love Danish design, and I love my Blackhill highland wool.

And Lauren – a pattern I abandoned in 2011, because I was seriously upset about the fact that I actually swatched (yes I did, good girl!) for this, and then ventured forth and chose the wrong bleeping size to knit! It turned out huge, so I took the pattern, buried it and put a “do not disturb” post-it on the pile. But after receiving this gorgeous blue Aran weight Blackhill Highland Wool, I decided that Lauren needed a revival – so there, I’m knitting blue, a new color for me, don’t think I have ever had a blue garment before?

Warm my feet, please

by Svipser21. February 2013 19:27

I finished my slippers, and Lord knows I need them, my feet are forever cold it seems.

As it is with almost all other projects in 2’s, it took me from mid-December to mid-February to finish, it’s just plain boring knitting the same thing twice!

Easy, free pattern! Right here

Umaro testing

by Svipser13. February 2013 19:19

Jared Flood designed this GORGEOUS pattern, and if I ever get around to knitting a throw for our bed, this pattern is it.

My test is currently resting on the back of my knitting chair, I might make it into a pillow or a luxury cat bed for Rita?

Ella found a good home

by Svipser23. January 2013 19:31

I wanted a poncho, I thought it was a clever garment, especially in this cold weather, wear it indoors, outdoors…But sadly, as I was completing it and tried it on, I realized, I’m just not a “Poncho girl”. I tried to tell myself that it would grow on me, and I should suspend judgment until it was actually finished.

Well, I finished it, and I still feel the same..

Luckily, my mom came by today, tried it on, and loved it. So Ella is going to a loving new home. Thank you mom for putting me out of my misery, I would hate for it to live its life in the back of my closet, never seeing daylight, because it truly is a gorgeous knit.

Pattern: Ella Poncho, from the book "Suveræn Strik"

Designer: Lene Holme Samsøe

Yarn: Puno, Gepard Garn

Still snow on the ground

by Svipser19. January 2013 16:57

It seems winter is dead set on staying, still have snow on the ground, still have below 0 temps.

I still use treats when training the dog, and my little fingers hurt from the cold when I have to fish out the rewards for Otto. Good thing someone invented flip top mittens. Good thing I finally finished mine!

Pattern: Shipyard Mittens

Designer: Carrie Bostick Hoge

Yarn: Brooklyn Tweed Shelter - I love this yarn, one of my absolut favorites

Acer goes to the Opera

by Svipser18. January 2013 20:21

I finished my Acer cadigan last week, and was just waiting for the right moment to wear it the first time. My husbond was lucky to get 2 tickets for Carmen at the Royal Opera, so away we where.

It was in every way a perfect evening. I even wore a dress outside of my house for the first time since summer 2010!

Pattern: Acer

Designer: Amy Christoffers

Yarn: Drops Merino Extra Fine (will never use again)
